About Wilhelmus3D

A piece of history

My artistic journey has taken me from childhood endeavors in drawing and painting to becoming a skilled graphic professional in the industry. I then spent a few years utilizing my design skills for a prestigious German company, specializing in bedding and sleepwear.

During my 20’s, creating oil paintings and drawings was a passion of mine. However, as time went on, I gradually lost my enthusiasm for it and eventually stopped altogether. That is, until 2017 when I acquired my first 3D printer – a Prusa I3 Mk2.

I was completely lost when it came to modeling, printer settings, calibration, and material selection. Not to mention post-processing and painting techniques were beyond my understanding.

Over time, I acquired skills in printing and working with different materials, eventually becoming proficient in Blender modeling.

Things got even more exciting when Bambu Labs came out with their X1 and P1 multi material Printers. That was exactly what I had been searching for. With the addition of a resin printer, the possibilities were endless. The rest, as they say, is now a part of history.

01. Eye for detail

I learned on the academy of arts and in my like of work to really look how things are build and notice little details. Those are important to make life-like miniatures that are immediately recognized for what they are.

02. Master the hardware

Modeling is only 1 aspect of the journey, knowing your hardware and software to create stunning models is a separate trade all together.
Different slices settings can change the optics of your print completely.

03. What’s my niche?

I have always had a soft spot for comics and figurines. Action figures and miniatures tell a story that a single figure cannot. So I make props and diorama’s for action figures, model cars and dollhouses.
